Umaid Bhawan Palace, situated in Jodhpur in Rajasthan, India, is amongst the world’s largest personal homes. An element of the palace is maintained by Taj Hotels. Given its name after Maharaja Umaid Singh, grandfather of the current owners of the palace, this monument has 347 rooms and serves as the primary home of the erstwhile Jodhpur royal family.
Umaid Bhawan Palace was referred to as Chittar Palace throughout its development because of its location on Chittar Hill, the top point in Jodhpur. Ground for the foundations of the building was broken on 18 November 1929 by Maharaja Umaid Singh and the development work was finished in 1943 Along with 64 nicely furnished and elegantly appointed rooms/suites to select from, staying could without a doubt be a remarkable experience for guests at the Taj Umaid Bhawan Palace Jodhpur . The Palace was created to provide job to thousands of people during the time of famine.
The current owner of the Palace is Maharaj Gaj Singh. The Palace is split into three functional parts – a luxury Taj Palace Hotel (in existence since 1972), the home of the erstwhile royal family members, along with a Museum emphasizing the 20th century history of the Jodhpur Royal Family.
